ANZAC Day Sing-along

This was another resounding success! We were entertained by the Wainuiomata Little Theatre who did a fantastic job and it was so good to feel the Church reverberate with the sound of so many voices singing so loudly.

We started with a welcoming address by Colleen Hira who then read out the Roll of Honour of our Wainuiomata War Heroes, and told of the Society’s progress to date and our projects in the coming months.

A representative of the Little Theatre then talked a little about the wars that New Zealanders were involved in.

There was a selection of about 2 dozen songs which we all sang along to, as well as a couple of solos from members of the Little Theatre. The final song, Maori Battalion, which was a request from one of the audience, had everyone singing very loudly and stamping their feet in time to the music, then everyone gave a huge round of applause for the Little Theatre.

We finished the day with ANZAC biscuits, a cuppa and a chat.

Many had already been to the dawn services earlier in the day and said the sing along just finished off their day perfectly!
