We all gathered at 8am on what was a chilly and wet winter morning at Camp Wainui on the Coast Road. Half of us initially directing traffic and parking arrangements, whilst the others tended to the registrations of participants. Then at 10.45am we went to our marshalling posts to monitor and keep an eye out on the participants as they made their way through the 6km track - some doing two circuits. After the weather bomb which hit the lower North Island the evening before, the ground was awash with mud and water - and this created perfect conditions for such an event, so we were told.
Despite the cold wet conditons, we all agreed at the end of the day, that it was most enjoyable and we look forward to tackling this again next year.
